House dance is a club dance that with the music took its
form in Chicago, late 70’s and Early 80’s. The dance itself
developed in NYC, and the dancers from the NY loft and
paradise garage as well as Sound Factory Bar and
Choices has today given birth to house dancers a cross
the world.
In house dance you see influences from tap, jazz, Latin,
lindy and African.
The foundation of house dance is Jacking the groove, the
movement of the whole body to the music. Footwork
allows one to play with the rhythms and riffs in the
music. Lofting, illustrates the floor work and the smoothness
of the dance.
House dance belongs to house music, and to express the
music you can use different techniques as stomping,
shuffling, skating and many more elements. This workshop
will give you knowledge about the music, the dance,
the dancers and most importantly of all, your own opportunity
to express your self to the music.
