The production objects explores through dance, music, video installation and objects the complex connection between humans and machines, body and object.
Fridays for future, smartphones, climate change, digitization, individuality, self-realization. All of these concepts play a major role in the social context and have become indispensable in the discourse of our ideas of how we, as people, want to shape the future.
What does self-determination mean in a society? Under what conditions does a person become part of a machine clockwork and lose the feeling of making their own decision? What is the definition of “being human” and do we have to reinvent these concepts over and over again? What are the personal needs and what does it mean to compromise and to share space with someone or to give something away?
“The world as a space in which things become public, as a space in which one lives”
(Hannah Arendt)Among other things, the piece is inspired by texts and poems by the political theorist Hannah Arendt (1906 – 1975). Raszewski uses these texts as a basis for finding movement and improvisation translates them into the present day, choreographing the explosive socio-political relevance of these themes and bringing them to the stage.
