It’s 1952 in Manchester, New Hampshire when Dee, sixteen years old, decides the world is wide open and she will find her own way in it. Who helps and who doesn’t, what she wins and loses in Boston’s advertising world and in the world of New York theater, help Dee to become an independent woman in a time and place that has yet to learn that woman’s place is not necessarily in the home.
